Personalized medication options
Compounding for women’s health
When a commercially available medication does not meet an individual need, our compounding pharmacists can work with the patient and prescriber to explore a customized strength, ingredient profile or dosage form.
Questions about the preparation
Can the strength be tailored?
A prescribed dose can be prepared in a strength selected for the individual patient.
What if an ingredient is a concern?
When appropriate, formulations may omit selected dyes, preservatives or other non-medicinal ingredients.
Are other dosage forms possible?
Depending on the medication and prescription, options may include capsules, creams, gels or other suitable forms.
How is the prescriber involved?
Our pharmacists can communicate with the prescriber to clarify the formulation and preparation requirements.
About compounded hormone therapy
Our pharmacists can review prescriptions for compounded bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), including prescriptions related to menopause care. Hormone-related symptoms can have many causes and should be assessed by an appropriate healthcare provider. If a compounded hormone preparation is prescribed, we will review the formulation, instructions and available options with the patient and prescriber.
Compounded medications require an appropriate prescription and are not suitable for every condition or patient. Availability depends on the formula, ingredients and pharmacist assessment.
